As we start the new season of fall and back to school, we often want to start up our own new routines. For me September has always been the time to get my routine back together and get self care back into check.
For me self care means so much more then face mask and bubble baths, I mean it still includes those though. Self care is the act of taking care of yourself, including what you eat, your health routine and working out, and even time with friends.
One of my favourite self care activities is cooking. I love taking time to try out a new healthy recipe. Wheather it be a new take on a classic comfort food or just a healhty dessert. Being in the kitchen is on of my happy places and always makes me feel happy and I get to be creative. Making a healthy apple crisp is my go to for sure.
Another self care activity that I have been scheduling into my routine is going to the gym and working out. I used to workout a ton, probably too much, as I got extremly fatigued. But now I have gotten into a good routine of working out for my health and not for vanity reasons. Working out can increase your energy and mood as well as reducing risk of dieases and stress. So working out 2 to 3 times a week has become a non-negotiable.
Self care is something that needs to be a priority in everyones live. You need to be able to take care of yourself first in order to take care of the other people. I know that not everyone has a ton of extra time to spend on taking care of themselves but even adding 10 to 15 minutes into your day can help take your self care to the next level.
